OPIC/Civil Society Actors Explore avenues of Partnership for better Service Delivery to the South-West population

 A concertation seminar with Civil Society Actors organized by the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator on Thursday 24 August 2022 at the Buea Mountain Hotel engaged both parties to explore avenues for the delivery of optimum services to service users of regional and council administrations.

Attended by 28 Civil Society Organizations drawn from the six Divisions of the region, the objective of the seminar which had as theme ”The Office of the Public Independent Conciliator- ‘Engaging Civil Society Actors to explore avenues for the Delivery of Optimum Services to Service users’’, was to share information in order to prepare a good platform for future collaboration between both parties.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, the Public Independent Conciliator, Mme Telelen Dorothy Atabong spouse Motaze while she expressed appreciation to the Civil Society leaders, described their spontaneous and positive response as a sign of interest for the successful accomplishment of the missions entrusted to her office.

After two presentations on; The Missions of the Office of Public Independent Conciliator, and How the Civil Society can accompany OPIC in the realization of its missions done by Mr Forju Bernard and Barrister Agbor Nkongho Felix respectively, and the interactions that followed, the Civil Society Organisations took two important resolutions;  kick-start sensitization and education of rural communities on OPIC and its missions, and  build the capacities of community leaders on how to file a complaint to OPIC.

The Office of the Public Independent Conciliator also took note of recommendations made by the Civil Society Organizations, with the prominent being  the appointment of liaison officer in charge of relations with Civil Society Organisations.

It is worthy to mention that the Civil Society leaders appreciated the Public Independent Conciliator’s effort in engaging them as well as recognizing the role they play in the communities.
